Couples Therapy in Farringdon
I'm Ellie Bull, a BACP registered psychotherapist offering couples therapy in Farringdon and the wider City of London area, as well as online across the UK. I work with partners navigating all kinds of difficulties - from deep-rooted patterns that have built up over years, to more recent ruptures that have left you both unsure of where you stand.

What Brings Couples to Therapy
There's no single reason people seek couples therapy. Some of the most common things I work with include:
-
Communication difficulties - conversations that go in circles, talking past each other, or one or both partners withdrawing
-
Conflict and arguments - rows that never fully resolve, or resentment that quietly accumulates over time
-
Trust and infidelity - rebuilding after an affair, or working through a breakdown in trust of any kind
-
Emotional distance - feeling more like two people sharing a space than genuine partners
-
Life pressures - work stress, financial strain, becoming parents, or any significant change that puts strain on a relationship
-
Intimacy - emotional or physical closeness that has become difficult or has drifted away
If what you're experiencing isn't on this list, that doesn't mean couples therapy can't help. Many people arrive without a clear label for what's wrong - just a sense that something between them has shifted.
It Doesn't Have to Get Worse Before You Seek Help
Many couples wait far longer than they need to before coming to therapy - often because it feels like admitting defeat, or because life is simply too busy to prioritise it. But seeking support early, before things have really deteriorated, usually means there's more to build on.
Whether you're in real difficulty or just feel like you've lost your footing as a couple, this is a space to address that - at whatever stage you're at.
How It Works
Couples therapy sessions involve both partners together, with me as a neutral and supportive third party. My role isn't to take sides or decide who is right - it's to create a space where both of you can speak honestly and feel genuinely heard.
I work integratively, drawing on a range of approaches including the Gottman method, attachment theory, and emotionally focused techniques. I adapt our work to the specific dynamics of your relationship rather than following a fixed model.
Sessions last 60 minutes and cost £90. We'll start by exploring what's brought you both here and what you'd like to be different by the end of our work together.
Couples Therapy in Farringdon
I work with couples of all backgrounds, orientations and relationship structures, and my practice is a fully inclusive and non-judgmental space. Sessions are available in person in Farringdon, convenient for those working or living in Clerkenwell, Barbican, Old Street and the wider EC1 and EC4 areas.
My address is: Studio Smithfield, 1 East Poultry Avenue, EC1 9PT
I also offer online sessions for couples who prefer flexibility - whether that's fitting therapy around shift patterns, frequent travel, or simply the reality of two busy schedules that are hard to align.
A Note on Coming Together
It's very common for one partner to be more ready for therapy than the other. If one of you is hesitant, that's completely understandable - and worth acknowledging rather than papering over. Sometimes that hesitancy is actually a useful place to start.
What matters most is that both partners are willing to show up and give it a genuine try. Therapy isn't about fixing the other person - it's about understanding each other better and finding a new way forward together.
Taking the First Step
Reaching out about couples therapy can feel like a big step. It means acknowledging that things aren't quite right, and that takes courage. Most couples find that once they've made that first contact, something shifts - simply because they're doing something about it.
I offer an initial consultation where we can talk through what's brought you here and how I work, so you can get a sense of whether I'd be the right fit for you both.
